Purdue residence halls again in high demand; assignments provided

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. — Nearly 14,000 new and returning Purdue University students have been assigned campus housing in University Residences for the upcoming academic year, said Mike Shettle, director of admissions for Purdue University Residences.

Shettle said this week that undergraduate students began receiving their housing assignments Thursday (July 11) morning. Billing assessments were to show up in their bursar account Thursday morning as well.

The students receiving assignments contracted with University Residences before the May 5 deadline. About 70 additional students who contracted before that time will be assigned within the next few days. Those who contracted May 6 or later may have been assigned temporary housing, with about 100 being assigned over the next few weeks as space becomes available due to cancellations.

“We anticipate all contracted students will have an assignment by the first week of August,” Shettle said. “We will have fewer students in temporary housing this year, and all should be relocated by early September.”

Additionally, University Residences leased spaces in two facilities, Salisbury Campus Apartments and Aspire, which will add 291 and 340 beds. A limited number of spaces also are available for upper-level students at Blackbird Farms or The Cottages near campus.
