‘One Small Step’ play to celebrate 50th anniversary of Apollo 11 moon landing

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – A production celebrating the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing will be performed in November at Purdue University.
“One Small Step” will be staged at 7:30 p.m. on Nov. 5 and Nov. 7; at 8 p.m. on Nov 8; and 4 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Nov. 9. All performances will be in Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse.
These performances are presented by Purdue Convocations with support from Innovative Performance Fund, Duke Energy, Purdue College of Engineering, INSGC, Barash Law, and the Mike and Loretta Piggott Fund.
The space race between the United States and the Soviet Union to send the first man to the moon captured the world’s imagination and attention. Experience the 20th century’s most epic adventure in “One Small Step”, the smash hit from Oxford Playhouse in England. This action-packed tale includes dozens of characters — from German scientists, Russian cosmonauts and American astronauts (including plenty of Purdue’s own) to JFK and Walter Cronkite — all played by two extraordinary actors. Surrounded by vintage electronics and flea-market finds, they deliver inventive visual theatre as comically low-tech as Apollo 11 was high-tech.
Tickets are $20 for adults and $15 for children 18 years and younger, Purdue students and Ivy Tech Lafayette students. Tickets are available at the Stewart Center box office at 765-494-3933 or 800-914-SHOW. Group tickets are also available to groups of 10 more.
