Purdue experts available to discuss U.S./China trade negotiations in Washington
David Hummels: Impact of tariffs, trade wars on major U.S. industries
David Hummels is the Dr. Samuel R. Allen Dean of the Krannert School of Management and a professor of economics. His research focuses on a broad range of issues in international trade, including offshoring, product differentiation, barriers to trade and the broader impacts of aviation, infrastructure and trade facilitation on trade and economic development. He is a research associate of the National Bureau of Economic Research, an associate editor of the Journal of International Economics and an associate director of the Forum for Research on Empirical International Trade.

Anson Soderbery: Government-enacted tariffs equal reduced company investment
Anson Soderbery is an associate professor of economics at the Krannert School of Management. His areas of research expertise include industrial organization, international trade and tariffs. He has published on optimal tariffs and applied tariffs. Soderbery can speak to how companies react to enacted tariffs, trade elasticities, import supply and more.

Chong Xiang: How consumers and small businesses are coping with tariffs
Chong Xiang is an economics professor at the Krannert School of Management. His research interests include international trade, industrial organization and international finance. Xiang can comment on current U.S. tariffs; what might have led to the U.S.’s tough stance on China; how the tariffs affect consumers and small businesses; and how businesses are coping.
