Faculty and staff honors:
Dr. Laura Schwab Reese, assistant professor in the College of Health and Human Sciences, has been appointed to the editorial board of the American Journal of Public Health. AJPH is one of the top journals for public health in the nation, and the honor of sitting on the editorial board is one few get to experience in their career.
- Notables:
Jennifer Foray, associate professor of history, will partner with the College Board as an advanced-placement daily course lecturer. In response to the pandemic and the changing needs of students and educators, the College Board is partnering with college professors to provide free, online AP daily videos available to students around the world seeking to challenge themselves with college-level coursework, whether they are learning in-person, remotely, or in blended learning environments. Foray’s course will focus on “20th Century Global Conflicts” and emphasize the themes of continuity and change.
Tony Silva, professor of English and director of the graduate program in second language studies, and Zhaozhe Wang, a student in that program, recently published a book titled “Reconciling Translingualism and Second Language Writing.” By introducing scholarly perspectives in the debate between the translingual movement and the field of second language writing, their book aims to promote reconciliation between the two schools of thought by examining their differences in theory and practice.
