Meet Hailey Pike

Major: Pre-Pharmacy

Year: First year student

Hometown: Okemos, Michigan

Why did you choose Purdue?

I chose Purdue because of its prestigious pharmacy program and because it provided an opportunity for my twin sister and I to go to college together and study what we are passionate about.

Most memorable experience at Purdue?

So far, my most memorable moment was marching in my first halftime show as part of color guard. I loved being under the bright lights of Ross Ade and performing in front of the large crowd.

If you didnt major in pharmacy, what would you have majored in?

If I wasn’t a pre-pharmacy major, I would major in pre-med with a focus in biology. I have a great interest in human and plant systems and how they work. I have always been passionate about working in a healthcare profession.

What's been your biggest challenge in college and how did you overcome it?

My biggest challenge so far has been my accelerated chem course. I was one of the few students who did not take AP chem prior to college so the information was relatively new to me. I overcame this obstacle by developing useful study skills, watching videos on concepts I was confused about and by staying focused and determined.

Fun fact about you?

I have an identical twin sister here at Purdue.

If you were an animal, what would you be?

I would be a duck that lives in a fountain because it seems like a peaceful life where bystanders feed you and little children love you, look at you and smile.

Describe your favorite Purdue Professor?

My favorite professor is Humphrey who teaches biology. He was always so nice during class, easy to understand, encouraged his students to ask questions and his exams reflected the material he taught in class very well.

Purdue Pete or Boilermaker Express? Why?

I’m a fan of the Boilermaker express because it's Purdue’s official mascot and it's unique to have an object as a mascot.
