With his Fulbright Study/Research award, Isaac heads to the Politecnico di Torino in Italy. He will be researching pharmaceutical lyophilization, also known as freeze-drying, as part of the LyoLab. Italy’s LyoLab drew him because the techniques for lyophilization differ between America and Europe. By working with the LyoLab, he will gain familiarity with another model for freeze drying that will enhance his PhD dissertation research. His hope is that his research will contribute to decreasing lyophilized drug costs and increasing their availability.

Serving people forms the heart of Isaac’s goals. Not only is he working to increase drug accessibility, but he is actively engaged in people’s lives through volunteer work. He anticipates utilizing his past experiences in Italy and with the Italian language to participate in community activities. Isaac completed a two-year mission in Italy which motivates him to return. This time, he goes as a Fulbright Grantee and is able to share the experience with his wife and children. His past and current experiences are preparing him well for his academic teaching career where he will be an impactful educator capable of making math and physics accessible to his students.
