Marilyn Vargas was awarded the Gilman Scholarship to study abroad in France on at the University of Purpan. While there, she will learn about gender, trade, and communication across cultures. Home to several universities, Toulouse forms the ideal place for her to be able to interact with students from different regions of France and around the world.

Multiple aspects of Toulouse capture Marilyn’s attention, including art, ballet, and winemaking. Book learning is great, but immersing, and experiencing everything in person is even better. She looks forward to getting to attend local events and take classes to learn more about these subjects.

Eager to share her experiences in France, she hopes to create a vlog series as her follow-on project that can be shared with her high school.
