Jay leads the Physical Facilities and Public Safety team within Administrative Operations. The team is responsible for strategic leadership for Purdue’s capital program and public safety services in support of the university’s learning, discovery and engagement mission. Physical Facilities functions include identifying, prioritizing and delivering the capital program and related services, including campus planning, facilities management, asset management, construction and project delivery. Public Safety functions include police, fire and emergency preparedness to ensure the safety and security of the entire campus community. He is accountable for developing, implementing and successfully delivering services and projects that position Purdue as a safe and secure university of choice for education, research and employment.
Jay received both a bachelor’s and master’s degree in civil engineering from Purdue University and his master’s of business administration from Purdue Global. He is a registered professional engineer in Indiana. Before joining Purdue in December 2015, he spent more than 21 years at the Indiana Department of Transportation, where he rose to deputy commissioner for Engineering and Asset Management.
Outside of his professional responsibilities, Jay enjoys spending time with his family and engaging in hobbies such as reading, cycling, photography, and travel. He also plays an active leadership role in his church and serves on the board of directors for the Purdue Polytechnic High Schools.
