All new students are encouraged to participate in one of our Purdue Welcome experiences - step four in the All Aboard Purdue orientation process.
While some students will participate in an orientation program organized by Purdue Bands & Orchestras, Athletics, or Purdue Musical Organizations, the rest can attend Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) or Boiler Gold Rush international (BGRi).
What is BGR?
Boiler Gold Rush (BGR) is our welcome week orientation program for all new undergraduate students. BGR takes place the week before fall classes begin, and Purdue encourages all incoming students to take part, first years and transfers. Boiler Gold Rush 2023 will take place from Aug. 15-19.
Not registered for BGR/BGRi?
Your student can register in their myPurdue portal. Time is running out - registration closes July 31, though exceptions may be made for students who are admitted to the University after this date!
The cost to attend BGR/BGRi is $320 and will be billed to your student's account. Students are not expected to pay the fee at registration, but payment is recommended by July 31. Payment is due with Tuition and Fees at the start of the semester. Once your student has registered, they will receive a registration confirmation email.
A limited number of need-based waivers are available to cover all or half of the $320 fee. New students can find the link to the BGR Fee Waiver Application and details on how to apply on the New Student Task List in their myPurdue portal. Students applying for a fee waiver must register for BGR first for their application to be fully considered. The BGR Fee Waiver Application closes on July 31. All BGR Fee waivers will show on your student's account at the beginning of August when the Fall assessment for tuition and fees occurs.
A list of frequently asked questions and other program details are available on the Boiler Gold Rush website.
Students will receive more information about their pre-assigned move-in date around July 15. For move-in day, there is information on the University Residences Move-in website to help you through the process of accessing campus, navigating to your student's check-in location, and parking information for after your Boilermaker has unloaded their belongings from your vehicle. After your student is settled into their residence, they will need to visit the Co-Rec to check in for BGR/BGRi.
BGR/BGRi Students living off-campus
If your student is residing in an off-campus location, they will need to work with the property manager on their move-in date. Students will need to visit the Co-Rec to check in for the BGRi/BGR program.
Final BGR details
BGR/BGRi participants will receive an email from Orientation Programs in early August containing information about the program and the precise check-in information for students living both on and off-campus. Make sure they are checking their personal and Purdue emails regularly so they don't miss this message. Information will also be updated on the Boiler Gold Rush website. |
