Dentistry & Optometry
Dentists (DDS or DMD) prevent, diagnose, and treat problems affecting the teeth, gums, tongue, lips and jaws. Training requires 4 years after the undergraduate degree. Dentists may continue their education after dental school to enter specialty areas such as orthodontics or endodontics.
Indiana University School of Dental Medicine (admissions)
Doctors of Optometry (ODs) examine, diagnose, treat, and manage disease and disorders of the visual system and eye. They provide routine eye exams and fit patients for corrective lenses and treat other eye problems including glaucoma and visual skill problems. Optometry programs require 4 years after undergraduate education.
