Towards Immersive Visualization for Large Lectures
Project Overview
This project implements and validates immersive visualization in large lectures (IVLL) to improve student engagement. IVLL has great potential to benefit students, and thanks to recent advances in computer hardware and software, IVLL implementation is now possible. The proposed IVLL approach will (1) bring visualization efficacy through immersion, depth perception, and interaction; (2) allow for the virtual reconfiguration of large lectures dynamically, with great flexibility, and without the infrastructure costs associated with physically reconfigurable lecture halls; (3) allow for the extension of the limited conventional 2D display surfaces, i.e., projection screens, to unbounded 3D display volumes and virtual 2D screens.
