Nominations sought for the Sandra K. Monroe Excellence in Student Services Award

Nominations are being accepted for the annual Sandra K. Monroe award. This award is given annually to one student-facing professional for their policy advocacy and/or exemplary service to students. Evidence of the breadth and depth of impact will be considered in the selection process.

The award was established by the Teaching and Learning unit in the Office of the Provost to honor Sandra Monroe’s contributions to Purdue and her legacy of impact. For nearly 45 years, Monroe improved the student experience at Purdue. Monroe was a constant advocate for young Boilermakers, serving as a counselor, an academic advisor, associate dean of students and assistant vice president for Student Services. She helped thousands of undergraduate and graduate students throughout their time on campus.

Eligibility

  • Employed as a student-facing staff member at Purdue West Lafayette or statewide.

Criteria for Award

  • Exemplary service to Purdue students
  • Contribution to the student experience through student-centered policy advocacy ·
  • Evidence of the magnitude, depth, and breadth of impact
    • Nature/quality of contribution (i.e., college/university scope, level of impact)
    • Number of years of service
    • Number of students served

Amount of Award

  • $1,000

Nomination Process

Each submission for the Sandra K. Monroe Excellence in Student Services Award must include the following:

  • Nomination cover letter addressing alignment between the nominee’s accomplishments and the criteria noted above. Nominations can be submitted by colleagues or supervisors of the nominee.
  • Nominee CV
  • A minimum of two letters of support that address the award criteria.
    • One letter from a campus colleague (e.g., advisor, student life professional, faculty member, administrator)
    • One letter from a student (clearly marked as such)
