Description: | This course focuses on the characteristics and issues encountered by individuals who experience severe and profound levels of mental retardation and/or autistic spectrum disorders. Characteristics addressed include learning, behavioral, social-emotional, and communicative abilities. Emphasis will be placed on evidence-based practices and empirically supported treatments for students with severe disabilities. |
