Description: This didactic and clinical nursing course introduces concepts specific to the care of patients/clients experiencing alterations with mental health. The study of personality development, psychology, and sociologic concepts from previous social science and nursing courses are integrated throughout the course. The assessment, application of the nursing process, critical thinking, communication skills, and therapeutic use of self are emphasized specific to the related psychopathology. Clinical experiences are provided in hospitals and other community mental health agencies.
