Description: | Introduction to classical control theory. Transfer functions, block diagram manipulation, and signal flow graphs. Transient and steady state responses; characteristics and design. Sensitivity analysis and disturbance rejection. System stability. Root locus analysis and design. Frequency response analysis using Bode and polar plots. Nyquist criterion and Nichols chart. Controller design using Bode plots. Laboratory will include design, simulation of topics covered, and a number of practical experiments. Credit not allowed for both ECE 384 and M E 485 |
