Description: The primary focus of the course will be the long-run behavior of the economy, with emphasis on the experience of the U.S. Data from both the 19th century and the post World War II period will be analyzed, with emphasis on the secular determinants of output and prices. Policy questions such as the impact of government budget deficits and the implications and prospects for Social Security will be examined.
