Description: The roles of the family nurse practitioner in promoting health and preventing illness in the young family are implemented in primary care settings. Students acquire expertise in the clinical management of common acute and chronic health problems experienced by the young family. Advanced assessment skills and educational strategies are used to help the young family cope with developmental changes, illness and social/environmental problems. Current research related to health promotion and illness prevention in the young family is applied.
