Description: The roles of the family nurse practitioner in promoting health and preventing illness in the aging family are implemented in primary care settings. Students acquire expertise in the clinical management of common acute and chronic health problems experienced by the aging family. Advanced assessment skills and educational strategies are used to assist the aging family cope with age-related changes, illness and social/environmental problems. Current research related to health promotion and illness prevention in the aging family is applied.
