Description: Theory and practice of electron and light microscopy and associated specimen preparation techniques. Coverage will include principles, applications, laboratory experience, and interpretation of data in preparation for use of modern microscopic methods and equipment in research. Individual course offerings will be devoted to the following topics: (502A) transmission electron microscopy, 1-3 cr.; (502D) scanning electron microscopy, 1-3 cr.; (502E) X-ray microanalysis, 1 cr. Students may select topics and credit.
