Description: Detailed examination of the IBM programming environment. Overview of the IBM mainframe architecture. IBM assembly language with emphasis on macros, file I/O, packed arithmetic and OS interface. The virtual machine and host operating system concepts. Application development within a host operating system; compilation, linking, execution, file utilities, and libraries; job control language; introduction to support packages such as CICS and IDCAMS.
