Description: | Open to high achieving first- and second-year students from all of Purdue's academic schools, these special topics seminars are designed to open intellectual horizons and allow opportunities for learning by inquiry a collaborative environment. The courses are limited to no more than 25 participants, may be team taught, and emphasize close interaction between the professor(s) and the students. Interdisciplinary examination that offers a deep sense of integration is stressed. Students will participate in active learning exercises that may include field trips, creative research experiences, community collaboration, and/or service learning. Some seminar titles are: Introduction to the History and Philosophy of Science - Should the History of Science Be X-Rated; On Creativity; and Maniocs, Panics, and Crashed - a History of Trading the Traders. |
