Description: This course provides opportunities from a conceptual and practical perspective to explore the dynamics that contribute to effective health education. The educative process is analyzed as a vehicle for the promotion of health in individuals and groups in the community. Students apply teaching-learning strategies and evaluate the effectiveness of these strategies on individual and group health promotion activities. The effectiveness of health teaching as a means of influencing society to embrace actions that improve the quality of life for individuals is examined. The professional nursing roles of educator, patient advocate, change agent and practitioner are discussed in relation to health teaching and health promotion.
