Description: | (PSY 494) Animal and human behavior is presented from an ethological perspective. Emphasis is on observation and description of natural behaviors, motivation, the behavioral aspects of ecology, the evolution of behavior, and the domestication of animals. Several representative groups of wild and domesticated species will be discussed and illustrated with slides and films with respect to individual and social behavior, predator-prey relationships, etc. Field trips will augment classroom work. A critical examination of popular books in ethology will be made against the background of this course. |
