Description: | Seminar course in depositional environments as recognized in the stratigraphic record. Each student will assemble a detailed bibliography and prepare and present to the class one or more in-depth reports on assigned topics, such as alluvial fans, fluvial environments, lakes, deserts, deltas, clastic shorelines, shallow-water carbonate environments, deep marine environments, or glacial environments. Students also will gain experience in literature search procedures, preparation of visual aids, oral presentation, and report writing. One weekend field trip may be required. |
