Description: Fundamentals and applications of electrochemical systems. Principles of electrode-solution inter-faces and related surface chemistry, with emphasis on electrode processes. Theory and practice of electro-analytical techniques. Application of atomic/molecular spectroscopic and microscopic methods to structure and dynamics of in situ electrochemical systems. Real-world aspects of electrochemistry, including energy conversion, storage, and corrosion. Relation to surface chemistry and catalysis at solid-gas interfaces. Offered in alternate years. Prerequisite: CHM 42400.
