Guidance for Research Community on potential impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Dear Colleagues,

 

We’re writing to share guidance related to the potential impact of the Russian invasion of Ukraine on our research community. We condemn this attack and stand in support of Ukraine. Already, we have seen the troubling impacts of this conflict manifest within Ukraine and across the globe. 

 

As a university that brings together research experts from across disciplines and from around the world to pursue solutions to societal challenges, we anticipate that our Purdue research community may experience issues in their areas resulting from this conflict, and have provided the guidance below to help you navigate these challenges. 

 

In recent days, the US has imposed extensive sanctions and new export controls on Russia. Department of Treasury sanctions now prohibit US persons from conducting any business with certain Russian persons, companies and banks. In addition, the Department of Commerce Bureau of Industry Security has added a broad range of export restrictions on areas such as microelectronics, telecommunications, sensors, navigation equipment, avionics, software, marine equipment, and civil aircraft. If you have any faculty or researchers who have active collaborations with Russia (including university, government, or industry partners, or Russian colleagues resident outside of the US), please advise them to stop all activity and reach out to Elizabeth Wagner, director of export controls (wagne366@purdue.edu), to determine what US export licenses may be required and available. Please note that these new export license requirements do not apply to Russian students enrolled at Purdue who are resident on campus.

 

Please be advised that ISS Student Services is communicating with students who are affected by the sanctions.
