Machine learning and atomic level predictions of nanoscale heat transfer Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Research Program Summer 2025 Closed Heat Transfer, Machine Learning Nanoscale thermal transport properties, such as thermal conductivity, interfacial conductance, reflectivity, absorptivity, and transmissivity, are critical for the thermal management of electronic devices and sustainable energy applications. Xiulin Ruan In this project, undergraduate students will assist postdoctoral fellows and PhD students in predicting these properties based on the atomic structures of materials, employing methods rooted in machine learning, optics, or quantum mechanics. https://engineering.purdue.edu/NANOENERGY/ Junior or senior standing is preferred. A GPA of 3.5 or higher is a plus. 2 7 (estimated)
