Project ISF: Orchard ethnography lab Program DUIRI - Discovery Undergraduate Interdisciplinary Research Internship Term Summer 2023 Status Accepted Research Area Anthropology Description Faculty Collaborators: Steve Hallett What is the impact of a heritage farm on the local community? In this project, a student will conduct anthropological research to ask about the different kinds of social and ecological value produced by an Indiana orchard. Topics will include contributions to local biodiversity, land management, value created, and applied research with key stakeholders. Steve Hallett of Horticulture will serve as a research collaborator. Supervisor Andrew T Flachs Mentor Andrew T Flachs Type of work required The intern will conduct interviews, participant observation, GPS data collection and analysis, and field ecology. Over the course of the internship, the student will collect these data, analyze them, and create a report to share with stakeholders.
