In the spotlight: Green Week
Campus-wide Purdue Recycles As the result of ongoing individual, departmental and organizational efforts, Purdue diverts a considerable amount of recyclable material from landfills each year. The Purdue community is currently recycling a greater volume and wider range of materials than ever before. In 2010-11, the University's institutional diversion rate was 77 percent, a 12 percentage point increase over the 2009-10 rate of 65 percent. Read more...

* Free coffee available all day at Urban Market, Pappy's Sweet Shop, Flatbreads and Oasis in Purdue Memorial Union for those who bring a 16- to 22-ounce reusable mug.
* Donate and Recycle at the Union will take place all week in PMU's southwest stairwell on the ground floor (near Starbucks). Donate gently used jeans and sweatshirts.
* Boilermaker Bin, the interactive recycling bin, will be on display all day near Flatbreads in PMU.
* "Secondary Students' Conceptions of the Greenhouse Effect, Global Warming and Climate Change" will be presented by Dan Shepardson, professor of curriculum and instruction and earth and atmospheric science, at 1:30 p.m. in Beering Hall, Room 2275.
* Plastic bag art competition noon-3 p.m. in Stewart Center, Room 214B. A PDF file with more information is available here.
* "Amazing China - Cultural Entertainment" will be presented by Shanghai Jiao Tong University Student Orchestra at 7 p.m. in Stewart Center, Loeb Playhouse. This event, open to all, is in conjunction with the China-U.S. Joint Symposium.

President's Forum set for Wednesday
The year's first President's Forum will be held 9-10:30 a.m. Wednesday (Sept. 28) in the South Ballroom of Purdue Memorial Union. The forum will focus on goals for the coming year, with special emphasis on the Decadal Funding Plan. The forum will be webcast via Windows Media live stream at mms://video1.itap.purdue.edu/PresidentsForum.

A special Board of Trustees issue of Purdue Today will be sent Friday (Sept. 30) at the conclusion of the board’s scheduled meeting. The agenda for the meeting is available on the Board of Trustees website.
Faculty-staff travel to Egypt allowed once again
In January of this year, Tim Sands, executive vice president for
academic affairs and provost, and Al Diaz, executive vice president
for business and finance, treasurer, announced a travel ban for
Purdue faculty and staff to the country of Egypt. This was due to that country's
civil unrest at that time. This ban has been lifted
now that a more normal state of affairs exists.
Seasonal flu shot appointments to be offered on campus
Beginning Oct. 12, seasonal flu shot appointments provided by WorkLife Programs will be available on the West Lafayette campus. The vendor for these events is Maxim Health Systems. Read more...
