HHS researchers use multifaceted approach to fight Parkinson's disease

Parkinson's disease is the second most common neurodegenerative disease, after Alzheimer's, in the United States. A disorder that affects movement and cognition, it was largely unknown to most Americans until boxer Muhammad Ali and actor Michael J. Fox put a face to the disease. The fall issue of Life 360 magazine highlights how researchers in the College of Health and Human Sciences are searching for Parkinson's causes as well as developing ways to improve the quality of life for those stricken with the disease.

Assistive technology brings real-time class captioning to iPads

Purdue now can provide students who are deaf or hard-of-hearing real-time captioning of their classes on student-owned iPads through the University's communication access real-time translation (CART) service, the result of a project by the Disability Resource Center and ITaP assistive technology specialists.

Diabetes affects almost 26 million Americans. An additional 79 million have prediabetes. Today, Everyday Wellness focuses on one woman's fight against the disease through lifestyle changes.
