Carrie Hanson's diligent work and careful eye for detail help make sure Spring Fling is an enjoyable, fun event for Purdue's West Lafayette campus staff. From the vehicle show to the fitness walk to lunch offerings, Hanson -- along with a dedicated committee of Purdue employees -- makes sure every detail is in place for the annual staff appreciation event, which typically draws about 6,500 employees. Hanson is training manager in Human Resources and chair of Spring Fling 2013.
Spring Fling, the annual appreciation event for faculty, staff, graduate student staff and retirees, is set for 11:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Thursday (May 23) in and around the France A. Córdova Recreational Sports Center.

The Board of Trustees will conduct a public hearing Wednesday (May 22) on proposed tuition and fees to be paid by students attending any of the University's campuses during the 2013-14 and 2014-15 academic years.
Information has been mailed to clerical and service staff about applying for membership on the Clerical and Service Staff Advisory Committee. The application deadline is May 31.
The 2013 Richard A. Hadley APSAC Professional Development Series presentation on Wednesday (May 22) will focus on ways to help improve students' academic success at Purdue.

The cooperative effort of multiple Purdue departments, including the Disabilities Resource Center and ITaP, allowed a mother with profound hearing loss to better enjoy commencement -- and helped her son earn his degree -- both with an assist from assistive technology.
