Purdue's Garimella elected fellow of National Academy of Inventors

Suresh Garimella, executive vice president for research and partnerships and the R. Eugene & Susie E. Goodson Distinguished Professor of Mechanical Engineering, has been elected a fellow of the National Academy of Inventors.

A group of Purdue researchers has discovered a new way in using the human body as a robust communication medium for networking electronic devices in and on the body that promises to be far more secure and low-energy than any wireless system. The advancement allows devices to communicate through the body instead of sending a signal through the airwaves that could be hacked.
