Purdue’s next big move: The Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business

Purdue’s Board of Trustees approved Friday (Feb. 3) the naming of the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business, which will educate many business leaders of a technology-driven, free market economy and carry out top-notch research. The Krannert name that has designated the graduate program will continue to do so. University investment and philanthropic support are also announced, with a target total of $300 million. Fighting the causes of hunger

Hunger is one of humanity’s oldest and most primal problems. Despite the vast scientific advances that have allowed us to eradicate smallpox, travel to the moon, and carry tiny computers in our pockets, we still haven’t figured out how to make sure everyone has enough food. The Purdue Center for Global Food Security is dedicated to this enduring problem. With a new director, Sylvie Brouder, the center is refreshing its role as a hub for interdisciplinary research and educational programming on food and nutrition security.

Researchers receive funds to strengthen marketplace interest in IP

Purdue innovators who create new processes and products need capital, among other resources, to bring their ideas to reality. A Purdue fund is making financial support available to help them further develop their work. Researchers from the College of Agriculture and College of Engineering have received more than $143,000 from the Trask Innovation Fund to make their work more attractive for commercial use. AAU highlights Purdue research

The Association of American Universities (AAU) recognized Purdue's research excellence Friday (Feb. 3) with a tweet highlighting researchers’ method of repurposing existing techniques to produce a microprocessor timing device in a standard chip fab plant, which could address supply chain and security weak points.
