Computer scientist Aniket Bera, an associate professor of computer science in Purdue’s College of Science, is working to make sure the future is a little more “Big Hero 6” and a little less Skynet. From therapy chatbots to intuitive assistant robots to smart search and rescue drones to computer modeling and graphics, his lab works to optimize computers for a human world. James Young

Near-death experience inspires student to get healthy, help others

College of Health and Human Sciences graduate student James Young II was less than a week from death when he walked into an emergency room and received a series of substantial diagnoses, including heart failure and kidney disease. Now pursuing his Master of Public Health degree through Purdue University Online, Young hopes to help prevent others from experiencing similar health crises.
