Tonight: Nikki Giovanni to serve as Black History Month closing speaker

Acclaimed poet and educator Nikki Giovanni will close out a series of Black History Month events with a lecture at 7 p.m. today (Feb. 28) in Stewart Center’s Loeb Playhouse. Attendees are encouraged to register in advance.

Negishi dedication

Negishi community cluster dedicated in ceremony

The Rosen Center for Advanced Computing’s newest community cluster supercomputer, Negishi, named in honor of distinguished professor of chemistry and Nobel laureate Ei-ichi Negishi, was dedicated Friday (Feb. 24) in a ceremony including Negishi’s daughters and their families. The ceremony was followed by a reception and the unveiling of the Ei-ichi Negishi Archives.

Purdue research: Analyzing best times to eat, exercise in a day

Purdue College of Health and Human Sciences researchers Heather Eicher-Miller and Libby Richards published findings from cluster analyses on temporal nutrition intake as well as when and how hard to exercise in a 24-hour span. The scientists utilized health data from about 1,000 Americans ages 20-65 from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention’s National Health and Nutrition Examination Survey to find trends in when and how U.S. adults eat and move.
