Center for Quantum Technologies launches Industry-University Cooperative Research Center program

The Center for Quantum Technologies has launched the first phase of an Industry-University Cooperative Research Center program with the help of a grant from the National Science Foundation. Purdue President Mung Chiang and Executive Vice President for Research Karen Plaut gave opening remarks at the recent launch event.

Reducing the energy consumption, carbon footprint of heating and cooling homes

Heating and cooling homes carries a hefty economic and environmental price tag. Mirian Velay-Lizancos, assistant professor of civil engineering, is addressing these issues. She and researchers in her laboratory have developed a patent-pending, scalable, automatable process that improves upon the traditional method to incorporate phase change materials, or PCMs, into construction materials. Purdue research: The link between obesity, breast cancer risk

Explaining the complex cellular mechanisms that link obesity to a higher risk for breast cancer – and to its spread beyond the breast – is the first necessary step in defining ways to inhibit and prevent the disease. To that end, the National Institutes of Health has granted $3.9 million to Purdue University breast cancer researchers Dorothy Teegarden and Michael Wendt.
