Men's basketball earns No. 1 seed in East Region

The Purdue men's basketball team has earned the No. 1 seed in the East Region for the NCAA Tournament. The 29-5 Boilermakers will play at 6:50 p.m. ET Friday against the winner of a First Four game between Fairleigh Dickinson or Texas Southern. The Boilermakers earned their fourth No. 1 seed in school history and first since the 1996 tournament after winning the Big Ten regular-season title by three games and the Big Ten Tournament title with a win over Penn State. The Big Ten Tournament title is Purdue's first since the 2009 season.

Purdue University, the Purdue Research Foundation, the Purdue for Life Foundation and Varcity have reached an agreement to establish a wellness-infused residential development in Discovery Park District at Purdue. Purdue research: New assay accelerates E. coli testing process

A team led by Purdue food science researcher Bruce Applegate has developed a new time-saving assay to detect an especially severe strain of E. coli in ground beef. The assay both enriches the sample and can detect E. coli during the 15 hours or more needed to ship samples from a production facility to a testing laboratory of the Food Safety and Inspection Service.
