In support of efforts to elevate scholarly excellence, we’re delighted to introduce a new Purdue Today. As the daily communication center for our community of faculty, staff and graduate students, the aim of this new Purdue Today is to facilitate and advance the many conversations of import to our scholarly community and partners both locally and at the far corners of our world.
All faculty, staff and students are invited to attend the first annual celebration of Purdue faculty members who have received Early Career Awards from various federal agencies. The inaugural 2023 event is hosted by President Mung Chiang, Provost Patrick Wolfe and EVP for Research Karen Plaut and will take place at 4 p.m. today (March 20) at Purdue Memorial Union's East and West Faculty Lounges. One of 11 faculty members hired in Purdue’s 2022 public health cluster hire, Haocen Wang was raised by her grandparents. Watching their experience with health issues as they aged inspired her to pursue research in preventative health, which she is doing today as an assistant professor in Purdue’s School of Nursing.

President Mung Chiang, Executive Vice President for Research Karen Plaut and Provost Patrick Wolfe have announced plans for Life Science Deep Dive sessions. These will be interactive sessions involving university and research leaders and faculty to explore opportunities to deepen Purdue’s leadership in life sciences.
The Office of Engagement offers multiple ways for Purdue faculty and staff to use their work to foster and enhance connections with community partners, pursue research grant funding and take their careers to the next level. Opportunities like the Societal Impact Fellows and Scholarship of Engagement Fellows programs are helping Krystal Hans and Jennifer DeBoer do just that.
Athletic audits are sent out each February and due back before spring break. The Polytechnic student athlete list was sent to an administrator who is on FMLA. Carly Watley Brown (Office of the Registrar) caught the out-of-office message and quickly sent the list to other administrators so advisors would not be late in their audits.
