Purdue University honored 46 of its rising young faculty members on Monday (March 20) at the inaugural Early Career Awards celebration, acknowledging their success as recipients of awards from federal agencies that recognize outstanding early career researchers.
David Purpura, professor of human development and family science in Purdue’s College of Health and Human Sciences, has devoted much of his career to creating lasting change in children’s understanding of math. Purpura’s research is only a part of the many strides being made in children’s early STEM learning through the Center for Early Learning, a hub of research, policy and practice centered around shaping early childhood education, with a particular focus on STEM learning.

Rendi Tharp thrives on interactions with others, but when the COVID-19 pandemic caused her to shift to temporary remote work shortly after being hired at Purdue, building those connections became a bit more challenging. In her search for new opportunities to connect and interact with other Purdue employees, Tharp spotted a callout for the annual Campus Support Staff Advisory Committee (CSSAC) membership drive. Applications for CSSAC’s spring 2023 membership drive are open through April 7.
