Purdue will dedicate Dudley and Lambertus Halls during an invitation-only ceremony at 2 p.m. today (April 14). The two connected buildings have created a cutting-edge complex to support rapid enrollment growth in the university’s College of Engineering and Polytechnic Institute.
The earth doesn’t give up its secrets easily – not even in the “Cradle of Humankind” in South Africa, where a wealth of fossils relating to human evolution has been found. For decades, scientists have studied these fossils of early human ancestors and their long-lost relatives. A dating method developed by Purdue geologist Darryl Granger just pushed the age of some of these fossils found at the site of Sterkfontein Caves back more than a million years.
Housed in the College of Health and Human Sciences and the Department of Health and Kinesiology, the athletic training graduate program earned a double shot of greatness this spring. Not one but two faculty members — clinical associate professors Alice Wilcoxson and Jennifer Popp — were named Most Distinguished Athletic Trainers, one of the highest awards the National Athletic Trainers’ Association can give an individual.
The College of Agriculture’s Spring Fest will return on Saturday (April 15), offering several new interactive activities for all ages. From 10 a.m. to 6 p.m., Spring Fest will take place throughout the College of Agriculture grounds and buildings, in the College of Veterinary Medicine and on the Memorial Mall. The event is free and open to the public, with dozens of educational opportunities for all ages.
The annual College of Veterinary Medicine open house returns 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday (April 15) at Lynn Hall. The student-run event gives the campus and Greater Lafayette community a chance to learn more about the veterinary profession, get a glimpse into student life at Purdue Veterinary Medicine and interact with and learn about a variety of animals.
Purdue has received a $10 million commitment from alumni Norman and Karen Blake to establish an ethics center within the Mitchell E. Daniels, Jr. School of Business. The Blake Family Center for Ethics will provide students with repeated exposure to ethics training through strategically implemented opportunities to apply ethics across the new school’s curriculum and other studies.
