Leaders from Purdue University and the Air Force Research Laboratory gathered on Friday (April 21) for the ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the AFRL Regional Hub Network – Midwest, located at Purdue. As the Midwest lead, Purdue is tasked with developing a region-specific science and technology roadmap; piloting partnership models with programmatic interventions, adopting and implementing best practices with a focus on expansion and identifying pathways for long-term impact on the science and technology ecosystem of the U.S. Air Force/Space Force.
Within his Attention and Neurodevelopmental Disorders Lab, Brandon Keehn, associate professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and Department of Psychological Sciences, utilizes eye-tracking technology for early assessment of toddlers and young children at risk for autism as well as for learning about the strengths of older individuals with autism spectrum disorder.
Rodrigo Bañuelos, professor of mathematics, was named a 2023 fellow by the Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. He was recognized for pioneering and fundamental contributions in probability theory and analysis, and for fostering diversity in mathematics and education. Fellows are recognized by their peers for their research contributions to the discipline and outstanding community service.
The 10th annual Purdue Day of Giving is scheduled for Wednesday (April 26), giving Boilermakers around the world the opportunity to be part of Purdue’s next giant leap. The 24-hour online, social media-driven fundraising effort encompasses all of Purdue’s campuses – West Lafayette, Fort Wayne and Purdue Northwest – as well as Purdue Global.
Mark Lundstrom, the Don and Carol Scifres Distinguished Professor of Electrical and Computer Engineering, gave a keynote address to more than 200 admitted Purdue students, parents and alumni in New Delhi and Mumbai, India, on April 5 and April 7. The talk was part of the ninth annual India-Purdue Collaborative Lecture Series. Lundstrom was by joined several other Purdue leaders, including Vijay Raghunathan, professor of electrical and computer engineering and director of semiconductor education for Purdue, and Heidi Arola, director of the Office of Global Partnerships and director of the Purdue-India Partnership.
