Boilermaker entrepreneurs are invited to come home to campus this fall to join Purdue University President Mung Chiang for a weekend of special programming. The inaugural Entrepreneurial Alumni Reunion, presented in partnership with Purdue Innovates and Purdue for LifeFoundation, will be held Nov. 9-11.
Purdue on Wednesday (Aug. 30) announced that the SCALE (Scalable Asymmetric Lifecycle Engagement) microelectronics workforce development program will receive more than $19 million in funding from the Department of Defense to strengthen existing efforts.
Purdue aeronautical and astronautical doctoral students Liam Robinson and Layton Howerton have received funding from the U.S. Department of Defense. They are among 165 recipients of this year’s National Defense Science and Engineering Graduate Fellowships, winning a stipend, three years' tuition and funding for travel. Robinson will continue a space domain awareness study he began as an undergrad. Howerton is in the second year of his direct-to-PhD program.
Purdue competitors for XPRIZE Rainforest, a global cross-disciplinary challenge of monitoring tropical biodiversity, and their Illinois Institute of Technology teammates endured some tense moments in the semifinals, held in Singapore earlier this year. But after overcoming multiple challenges, including a nail-biter in the last minutes of the competition, the team recently learned it has qualified to compete in next year’s $10 million XPRIZE Rainforest finals.
