Purdue’s Homecoming 2023 weekend – themed “Giant Leaps Home – starts today and runs through Saturday (Sept. 29-30). The campuswide celebration will include activities for Boilermaker alumni and fans of all ages. Today’s activities include Free Ride Friday on the Boilermaker Special and the Homecoming Parade, followed by a home football game vs. Illinois on Saturday.
Visitors to Purdue Marketing and Communications’ homecoming tent on Saturday will have the chance to take photos with the Purdue University in Indianapolis NASCAR and learn more about the group’s new projects, including Purdue’s updated website. The tent will be located near the Gateway to the Future Arch.
The Antihydrogen Laser Physics Apparatus project recently published results from an antimatter experiment that shows antimatter and matter fall at the same rate due to gravity. Francis Robicheaux, professor of physics and astronomy in Purdue’s College of Science, is a member of the ALPHA team who helped develop the computer programs used to interpret the results. These programs predict the motion of anti-hydrogen motions inside the vacuum of the experiment. Robicheaux has been a contributor to ALPHA for almost 20 years.
R. Ethan Braden, executive vice president and chief marketing and communications officer for Purdue University and Purdue Global, was named Content Marketer of the Year by the Content Marketing Institute (CMI) on Thursday (Sept. 28). Winning the business to consumer category, Braden won the award over finalists from State Farm and The Humane Society of the United States.
Author and actor Sonia Manzano, best known for her role as Maria on “Sesame Street,” will be the keynote speaker for Purdue Global’s observation and celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month. As part of the Purdue Global Office of Organizational Culture and Inclusive Excellence Speaker Series, Manzano will present a keynote address at 1 p.m. ET Oct. 11 via Zoom, culminating more than a month’s worth of events celebrating Hispanic culture.
Purdue’s Lilly Scholars are hitting the ground running in their training to become the next generation of pharmaceutical manufacturing leaders. Thanks to a $42.5 million collaboration between Purdue and Eli Lilly and Company, students earned pharmaceutical manufacturing scholarships and unique learning opportunities with one of the world’s most innovative pharmaceutical companies.
Purdue Homecoming 2023 is here, and our normally bustling campus will be even busier this weekend. That means we all must place even greater vigilance on safety as we mix pedestrians, bicyclists, skateboards, and motorized and manual scooters with the additional visitors and fans for the full lineup of homecoming happenings across our beautiful campus.
