For the third year in a row, Purdue University is the only university Fast Company magazine has placed on its roster of “Brands That Matter,” an annual list honoring organizations for performing their brand’s mission and ideals with intention and authenticity. Purdue shares this space with brands like the NFL, Bombas and Rare Beauty and is one of only six three-time honorees.
The ocean isn’t a uniform body of water, but stratified layers of different density, temperature and salinity. As the climate changes, these density changes are becoming more extreme — affecting the movements of microorganisms in the water, and in turn affecting the production of oxygen and removal of carbon dioxide on a global scale. Arezoo Ardekani, professor of mechanical engineering, along with her team, recently wrote an omnibus review of how these layers of density changes affect the motion of particles.
Human Resources-Benefits will host the Healthy Boiler Fair from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday (Oct. 4). The benefits fair, which takes place in the Purdue Memorial Union Ballrooms (North and South), is the first employee benefits fair to be held since 2019. Thirty-six vendors and departments from Purdue and the community will be on-site, including Purdue Human Resources-Benefits.
As part of a research collaboration led by the University of Minnesota’s School of Nursing, virtual reality headsets are being embedded into Purdue’s nursing curriculum through the NUR 42001 (Transition to Professional Nursing Practice) course, which is taught by a team including Ann Loomis, clinical associate professor of nursing. In addition to traditional simulations where students practice scenarios on a manikin in the Nursing Center for Education and Simulation, students in the course will rotate through five VR scenarios throughout the semester.
