Preeti Sivasankar, professor and head of the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences and assistant vice president for strategic health research in the Office of Research, will discuss “Can You Protect Your Voice? Physiological Investigations From Rats to Humans” at 4:30 p.m. on Dec. 13. Space is limited to the first 50 faculty who register online.
Witnessing firsthand his stepfather’s experiences with substance use and recovery, doctoral student Luis Angel Gomez was motivated to find new ways to prevent substance use disorder and improve treatment. Gomez connected with psychological sciences professor Jennifer Brown to research the intersection of sociocultural factors and substance use.
The College of Engineering’s trailblazing role in enriching how engineers are prepared took center stage when the American Society for Engineering Education named the newest members of its hall of fame. Seven of the 22 individuals and three teams added to the circle of standouts have affiliations with Purdue’s pioneering School of Engineering Education, and no other university appears more than once on the new inductee list.

As Purdue prepares to make its next giant leap with a fully integrated extension of its flagship campus in Indianapolis, Chris Krull has been named the inaugural director of Teaching and Learning Programs at Purdue University in Indianapolis. Krull first served as a human resources consultant before joining IUPUI as an adjunct faculty member and later becoming assistant dean for career and student success of the College of Engineering and Technology.
