The department has relocated to O.P. Terry Memorial House at 205 S. Intramural Drive. The building formerly was the administrative and dining facility for Terry Courts residences. While some construction and remodeling is continuing, the department moved in during the past few weeks and the new facility is fully operational, said Ronald J. Fosnaugh, captain of special services.
"This new location enables us to better serve the entire Purdue community," he said. "In particular, we are now more conveniently located closer to the residential area of campus and the thousands of students who live in residence halls and married student housing."
The renovated facility has approximately 17,700 square feet of space, which is about five times larger than the former police headquarters located between the Engineering Administration Building and the old Heating and Power Plant-North.
Fosnaugh said the new facility allows for on-site records storage and accommodates all of the department's office, equipment, laboratory, storage and training needs.
The new headquarters includes a public lobby, administrative offices, conference and interview rooms, men's and women's locker rooms, a processing area and evidence room, and self-contained heating, cooling and electric-generator equipment. Radio and alarm monitor systems now operate from the new facility as well.
The public entrance to headquarters is at the north end of the building. Nearby is a parking lot that allows visitors to park without university parking permits.
All police phone numbers remain the same: emergency, 911; business, (317) 494-8221; and fax, (317) 494-0470.
Fosnaugh said a public open house will be scheduled when remodeling is completed.
