New aircraft flies for Northwest Airlink

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. -- Northwest Airlink, operated by Mesaba Airlines, is flying a new aircraft out of the Purdue University Airport.

Three new Saab 340 aircraft began carrying passengers today (Friday, 11/1) on three of the four daily flights to Northwest's hub at Detroit Metro International Airport.

The Saab 340 seats 34 passengers and features generous personal space and ample overhead storage space, as well as reclining leather seats, a lavatory and in-flight service.

"This is a state-of-the-art aircraft," said Robert Stroud, director of the Purdue Airport. "We're very fortunate to get three of the first 10 Saabs that are now in service."

Warren Wilkinson, Mesaba Airline's director of marketing and corporate communications, said, "We are very pleased to be able to introduce the Saab 340 to the Lafayette market. Passengers will enjoy the cabin-class comfort of this new aircraft."
