nov. 18-dec. 6: Purdue income tax schools and workshops
Conducted in cooperation with the Indiana Department of Revenue, the Purdue Cooperative
Extension Service and the Department of Agricultural Economics, the Income Tax Schools
will feature tax law revisions of interest to practitioners, including gift and estate tax planning, retirement planning, and not-for-profit corporations. These schools
provide continuing education credit for Certified Public Accountants, public accountants
and enrolled agents. Registration is $209. A $50 discount is available for participants who register with a friend who has never attended or has not participated
since 1992.

Three special half-day Agricultural Tax Issues Workshops will cover farm tax issues
in more depth than the Income Tax Schools. The workshops will be Dec. 4 in Warsaw
; Dec. 5 in Indianapolis
; and Dec. 6 in Jasper
. The fee is $55 for those registered for an income tax school, and $85 for those

nov. 19-20 arborist certification conference
This conference at Purdue presents basic tree care and urban forest information to
the commercial arborist, municipal administrator, adviser or concerned citizen. In
addition, it helps prepare participants for the International Society of Arboriculture's
Certified Arborist Exam. Sessions offered include tree identification, tree pruning
and preventing construction damage. The conference is sponsored by the Purdue Department
of Forestry and Natural Resources, the Forestry Division of the Indiana Department
of Natural Resources, and the Indiana Arborist Association. Fee is $150 and space is

nov. 21-22 national Conference for agribusiness
This conference is aimed at agribusiness professionals and will feature sessions on
customer relations, customer satisfaction and accessing customer satisfaction data.

nov. 23 purdue invitational crop contest
Approximately 80 4-H and FFA members will come to Lilly Hall at Purdue to compete
in this contest. Contest sections are: plant, seed and disease identification; grain

Nov. 23: ag computer expo 96
The event is designed to address the computer needs of farmers and help them understand
computer technology, software availability and additional aids that are available.
Educational sessions planned for the day include farm mapping, how to use the Internet and office tools for the farm computer. The event is sponsored by the Purdue Cooperative
Extension Service and Sullivan County Farm Bureau and will be held at Sullivan High

Dec. 2-6: Ag banking school
This weeklong school co-sponsored by the Indiana, Michigan and Ohio Bankers Association
will be in Stewart Center at Purdue and teaches bankers the ins and outs of agricultural

DEC. 3: FROM PURDUE TO YOU
"From Purdue to You" features Purdue Agriculture faculty and staff presenting agricultural
research and education projects. Topics range from the latest in food science and
consumer issues to on-farm technology. The program is sponsored by the Purdue Council on Agricultural Research, Extension and Teaching (P-CARET), a grassroots group
of Indiana citizens who support agricultural research, classroom teaching and Cooperative
Extension educational programs, and the Purdue School of Agriculture. The event will run from 9 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at the Purdue Memorial Union. CONTACT: Dave King, Department

dec. 5-6 Precision Decisions '96
This conference sponsored by Indiana Prairie Farmer, Farm Progress Companies and Purdue
University Cooperative Extension Service will feature discussion on the practical
aspects of precision farming and the results of a yield-mapping software comparison
project. More than 30 speakers are expected to participate. The conference will be at
the Adams Mark Hotel in Indianapolis. Fee is $129 by Nov. 18 and $140 after. CONTACT:

Dec. 7 farm management day
High-school students and their parents are invited to Purdue to spend a day learning
about the farm management major and life at the university. CONTACT: Howard Doster,

Jan. 14-15: winegrape production in the midwest school
The Heartland Grape and Wine Coalition (Michigan State, Ohio State and Purdue universities)
will hold a two-day school for beginning and novice grape growers at the Southwest
