Sixteen Purdue students participated in the Fifth Midwest Model European Union Mock
Summit. The activity is a simulation of the twice yearly summit meeting of European
Union heads of government. Purdue assumed the role of two member countries: Italy
and the Netherlands. The team representing Italy took second place. It consisted of Eric

Best of group awards went to Mary Gerber and Matthew Dickerson, Fairfield, Calif.
The Purdue Dutch delegation consisted of Matthew Dickerson; Kenneth Daily, Fishers,
Joaquim Do Prado, Recife, Brazil
; Amy Kirschner, Richmond
; Carri Metzger, Indianapolis
; Peter Mokry, Indianapolis
; and Matthew Stubbs, Arlington, Va.
The students were sponsored by International Programs; the School of Liberal Arts;
Krannert School of Management; and the Departments of Communication, Foreign Languages
and Literatures, History, and Political Science.
