Spirit posters available for men's,
women's NCAA games

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Free Purdue University basketball spirit posters are available on campus to celebrate the success of the men's and women's basketball teams during the season and their participation in the NCAA tournaments.

The 11-inch by 17-inch gold and black poster for the women reads: "We Believe! Boilers Up to the Challenge – Purdue Women's Basketball 1999-2000: Big Ten Tourney Champions."

"We're fortunate that the women's team has the opportunity to play the first two rounds of the tournament in Mackey Arena, where Purdue fans can really show their pride in this team that wrapped up a third straight Big Ten tourney title," said David Brannan, director of Purdue's Office of Publications.

The men's poster reads: "High Five! Purdue Senior Leadership: 1999-2000 Men's Basketball Season."

"The design is a celebratory high-five to this Boilermaker team that has been energized by five seniors – Brian Cardinal, Jaraan Cornell, Chad Kerkhof, Greg McQuay and Mike Robinson," Brannan said. His staff designed the posters, which are sponsored by the Offices of University Relations and Athletic Public Relations.

The free posters are available to fans between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. at these campus locations: The John Purdue Club office, Room 60, Mackey Arena; the Visitor Information Center, 504 Northwestern Ave.; the Office of Publications, South Campus Courts-D; and the Purdue Alumni Association office, Room 160, Memorial Union. The Visitor Information Center also is open from 8 a.m. to noon on Saturdays.

The men will play their second-round game against the University of Oklahoma at 5:30 p.m. Saturday (3/18) in Tucson, Ariz. The Boilermakers advanced after a one-point victory over Dayton.

The women open their NCAA title defense in a first-round game against Dartmouth at 8:30 p.m. Saturday in Mackey Arena.
